Mission Statement

“Good citizenship is the backbone of society.”

The mission of the School Citizenship Foundation is to increase the awareness and promotion of good citizenship throughout the community, with special emphasis on school-age children. Good citizenship is the foundation upon which healthy communities are built.

All ages can learn and benefit from good citizenship. Good citizenship skills include compassion, tolerance, selflessness, leadership and community involvement.

The lack of good citizenship is reflected in our schools and communities through disrespect for oneself, peers, teachers and school property, and general moral decay.

The School Citizenship Foundation recognizes that schools formally reward good grades and athletic achievement. However, there remains an urgent need for effective acknowledgement of student excellence in good citizenship. Through recognition programs, the School Citizenship Foundation leads people of all ages towards good citizenship.
